Tasting - "House Limited Edition Rose Bubbles Wine"

Image
Name: House Limited Edition Rose Bubbles Wine Variety of Grapes: Unknown; Blended Country: "Global" Region: "Global" Vintage: Unknown Cost: $5 Store: Kroger on South Main Wine Shop Review: " Washington - "Fresh and fragrant aromas lead to a wonderfully bright palate. Flavors of juicy citrus and ripe strawberry marry with refreshing bubbles, and are rounded out by a crisp finish"" - TotalWine.com Wine Folly: pg. pg. 25; "since color intensity in rose is controlled by the winemaker, a deeper color simply means the wine was macerated in grape skins longer" My Review: A nice mix of red and white (leaning heavily towards white). The bubbles compliment the light body and the sweet taste. A very smooth drink. This drink was enjoyed watching a movie with friends. I would drink this again.

Tasting - "Dark Horse Pinot Noir"

Name: Dark Horse Pinot Noir Variety of Grapes: Pinot Noir Country: United States Region: California (Believed to be Central Coast) Vintage: Unknown Cost: $5 Store: Kroger on South Main Wine Shop Review: " California- Smoothness, complexity and a great price are the strong points of this medium-bodied wine. It has wonderful raspberry, cedar and red-cherry flavors, light tannins, a polished feel on the palate and lingering finish." - Totalwine.com Wine Folly Page 150 and Page 294: I can taste a bit of cherry and maybe a hint of raspberry. the light body is noticeable as it doesn't leave a lingering alcohol taste however the cherry stays in your mouth for a while. I did not decant and poured into a generic glass not designed for wine. My Review: Very good and easy to drink. There are many subtleties that I taste but cannot describe. I hope that as my palette develops I will be able to better define my experience. I had this with leftover rotini marinara for dinner.

First Blog Assignment

I am very much a wine novice. I have had a few experiences with wine, but for the most part, I was focused on having alcohol instead of thinking about the form I was ingesting. My first experience with wine was stealing the never-used cooking wine out of my mother's pantry. I don't remember much about the experience or the wine, other than it was a red. As with most young people, my only goal was to get drunk.  My Father and Stepmother are avid travelers. I have often tagged along with their travels, allowing me to have traveled to 20 sovereign states by 20 years old. These countries are almost all in Europe, a land known for its wines. The earliest memory I have of drinking wine abroad was on a yacht cruise in Croatia. I was 15 at the time. The wine was a very fruity red, meant to celebrate our final night of the trip.  My next memory of wine abroad was a wine tasting in Rome, Italy. My Mother, Father, Stepmother, Grandmother, and my 17-year-old self enjoyed a 5 stop tour that
